Feathered Warrior - Species(?) Ref

Yep. Another one. These started out with Amsel (As a FH char) and kinda grew. I told Tiger and Skyly about my idea and they seemed to like it, so I figured I'd give it a shot. XD Anyways! I'm not sure if this actually counts as a "species" per se, since they were all formerly jackals at one point... I guess it counts as one? I'm not sure. XDDD Anyways, here's a bio:

Species Name: Feathered Warrior

Name Meaning:

Physical Appearence: Feathered Warriors are small-ish and have the anatomy of a Jackal. They have mysterious floating wings around them (Which they cannot use to fly) and wear a bird mask. They always have their mask on (It's not that they can't take it off, they can every now and then, but it's sort of like a company uniform, if that makes sense. XD It's one of the things that identifies them). They have pelt colors referring to the bird they're connected to, and have a natural base pelt (That any animal could have, not just a jackal) as well as any colored markings, including unnatural.

Abilities: Feathered Warriors cannot fly or levitate. Instead, they're extremely quick and agile, and can jump great heights. They're also very balanced, most of the time.

Habitat: Feathered Warriors don't have a specific habitat. They roam the Earth. However, they cannot be seen by other creatures, including humans. So they can roam freely around them without worry, but they mostly prefer to hang around the wilderness.

Diet: Feathered Warriors are Herbivores. They usually eat meat, but they can eat berries and herbs as a last resort if they need to.

Lifestyle: These creatures travel in bands, Tribes, you can call them. They're intelligent, and can wear accessories and carry weapons, however, they cannot do most of the things humans can. They cannot really build, so they use trees or old dens left by other animals as shelter.

More About/Important Information: Each Feathered Warrior is connected to a bird of some kind. For example, Amsel represents a Blackbird, and the Feathered Warrior shown above represents a Goldfinch. They cannot be connected to birds of prey, however, as birds of prey are their gods/ancients (Still not decided). They can be any bird not classified as a bird of prey, so for example, they cannot be connected to an eagle, osprey, vulture, buzzard, hawk, etc. And certainly no mythical birds, such as a phoenix. Each Feathered Warrior begins their life as a normal Jackal. Legend tells that the spirits (Possibly the Birds Of Prey) choose one to become a Feathered Warrior, and transform them. Ancient Feathered Warriors have larger wings than normal ones (which still float), as do higher rankings.


That's all I have for nahw. I'll probably add more later so it makes a bit more sense. XD I've decided to make these guys really mythological and stuff, since most of my other species' are realistic and natural. I may or may not also be basing them somewhat off Amaterasu, because I recently found out what Okami is exactly and I love it. Anyways, enjoy!
